Per seguire la Via il samurai deve mantenere l'attenzione sul momento presente e non vacillare, non avere pensieri mondani né essere schiavo delle passioni. Ogni istante è importante e quindi è necesario concentrarsi sempre sul momento presente.
Quando sei in dubbio se andare o non andare, è meglio non andare; se mangiare o no, meglio non mangiare; se vivere o morire, meglio morire.
